Page 3A Better LifeBy Bill ElbringPerhaps people get stuck in painful life patterns because they see no solution, no way out. We have callers who are excited to know that there are wonderful, healthy possibilities for those who would like to learn more about how to make life more fulfilling and joyful. We tell them about the best tools that we have found. But, their success in stopping the pain and finding more joy requires more of them. Each person seeking a better life is seeking a different life. If they do not change something, their life will stay the same. Change is required. Change can have fearsome repercussions, so it requires courage to stand willing to change. Many have to let their pain become intense before they find the courage to explore new ways to live. Sometimes the change itself requires feeling old pain in order to develop new, healthy ways to heal. The quest for a more healthy, joyful life is not for the faint of heart. Judy and I continue to find new levels of intimacy and aliveness in all our relationships - especially our romantic one. Out of our enhanced awareness of others' needs we increase our understanding and appreciation for one another. We seem to experience more joy each precious day. We are glad to share it with you. We'll tell you where we've gone and what we've done and how our experiences have given us a better life. different: Ten of the behavioral therapy couples (38%) had divorced and only one of the insight couples (3%).
